so i think later today im going to be borrowing my friends camera, which is far superior to my little thing, and ill be re-taking a lot of pictures of previously posted work. this one will be included in that group. the next one im working on is figurative… just in case i havent already lost you.

in other news, if you havent been looking at the illustration blog, there are some new things there and a biggish post tonight (hopefully)

working on these. each is about 3×4 feet. one is almost done, one just started.

this show is happening tomorrow, and it looks amazing.  my good friend jason redwood, awesome artist and beautiful decay founder amir fallah and michael swaney, who is one of my favorites, and who i am doing a 2 person show with next year, are all in it along with other people i am not affiliated with.

ive been reading a lot of writing on art lately and for the most part i would say that it has been 40% rewarding and 60% frustrating and discouraging.  anyways i just kind of stumbled on this lecture by milton glaser, and this is really not in the same category as the other stuff  i was reading, but it was the first one that made me feel good and excited about making stuff.  thats probably because it was the simplest and most honest of the bunch.  its called “this is what i have learned”. im sure you can google it and get the whole thing, but the 10 points are as follows.

“1. you can only work for people you like

2. if you have a choice, never have a job

3. some people are toxic. avoid them.

4. professionalism is not enough, or the good is the enemy of the great

    (what professionalism means is limiting risks)

5. less is not necessarily more

   (just enough is more)

6. style is not to be trusted

7.  how you live changes your brain

8.  doubt is better than certainty

9.  solving the problem is more important than being right

10. tell the truth”

its all stuff you know, but forget to know sometimes.
